Swan operated as part of ANZUK until April 1972, throughout which she visited Japanese ports, served as escort to the Royal Yacht Britannia throughout a Royal Visit to Thailand, and participated in SEATO Exercise Sea Hawk. Somers remained in the north for summer workout routines with the Battle Fleet and, on 25 July and 26 July, carried workers officers of President Warren G. Harding from Seattle, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia, throughout the president's Alaskan trip.
